To lose weight you have to eat less calories than you burn each day. If you did nothing each pound of muscle needs about 50 calories an hour each pound of fat needs 3 calories and hour. My point is that muscle burns more calories than fat even when still, more muscle = more calories burned.
Do your cardio work but also do some resistance training, along with your pilates which is very good. The resistance training will help with your legs and arms.
the more muscle you have the more calories you will burn just by sitting there. do not take this wrong though because just 20 min of cardio a day could do wonders, and quickly. this isn’t the only way to lose fat. cutting back on how much you eat can work too. good luck….(at that weight your probably not fat-just your image of yourself)
The pilates video will help to tone up your muscles, but if they are covered with a layer of fat then you should do cardio in addition to that. You seem skinny already though, so the pilates alone might do the trick. Maybe even just the pilates along with jumping rope.
Any sort of exercise will burn fat. Its how much you do and how long that counts. Walking at a decent pace uphill on the tred mill is a great way to burn fat. But running is great cardio ( for the heart) but both will work as a fat burner. I would suggest alternating the pilates with cardio.
Cardio, plus diet, plus strength training.
yes, cardio would help a great deal.
People mistakenly believe that you have to work the area where fat is building up in order to lose it. This will tone muscles in that area making it feel firmer but the truth is any expenditure of energy has the potential to burn fat. Fat is an energy storage mechanism. Your body draws energy by burning carbohydrates, fat, and even protein but what is less known is that they are burned in that order. Your body will not burn fat if your level of carbohydrate intake is high. So you need to do two things:
1. lower carbohydrate intake (but don’t replace it with fat!)
This lowers your total energy intake
2. Burn more energy.
Cardio exercises usually burn more energy because they involve the total body or at least the larger muscles of the body. Any exercise burns energy but the more vigorous it is, the faster you will burn.
You don’t have to do typical cardio to burn fat. By typical cardio I mean just get on a treadmill or machine.
As long as you burn more calories than you eat, you will burn fat. You can do pilates, weight training, yoga, or traditional cardio.
